IDrive Cloud Storage
iDrive offers convenient cloud storage for backing up all of your devices, along with a downloadable application tool to make uploading and navigating your files simple. iDrive not only backs up the files on an unlimited number of your personal devices, but it can back up all your photos from social media accounts like Facebook and Instagram as well. Plus, all of your files are synced across each of your devices, ensuring that if changes are made to a file on one device, all of your devices’ file locations are updated with that same new version.
A variety of plans are available with a range of storage space options depending on your needs. For personal use you have a choice between a free basic 5 gigabyte (GB) plan and an annual subscription that provides 1 terabyte (TB) of storage. For business use there are larger annual plan options ranging from 250 GB to 12 TB.
Multiple Device Backups
With just one account, iDrive allows you to back up all of your devices and store your data in one easily accessible location. Whether you have a PC or Mac computer, or an iPhone or Android device, iDrive is compatible with them all—and there is no limit on the number of devices you can back up on your account.
Everything from photos and contacts, to calendars and documents: all of them can all be backed up and synced across each of your devices so they are ready for access at any time no matter where you are or what device you’re on. Even Facebook and Instagram account photos can be backed up to your iDrive cloud. Simply download the iDrive application to each device, which will automatically create separate folders in your account for each of your devices in order to make navigating your files easy.
iDrive Express
If you have a large amount of data to back up and want to have it done quickly and securely without tying up all your bandwidth, iDrive Express is the ideal solution. With this option, a hard drive with up to 3 TB of space is sent to you for offline data transfer. It works with the Local Backup feature in the iDrive app on your devices. The hard drives are protected with 256 advanced encryption standard (AES) encryption and a private key, to guarantee that your files are safe and secure through the process.
Simply back up all of your data locally to the hard drive, send it back to iDrive, and your data will be loaded to your account and ready for access. From this point you can proceed with performing incremental backups on your own through the Cloud.
File Syncing, Sharing, and Social Media Backups
The File Sync feature of iDrive makes sure that all your files are synced and kept uniform across all your devices. When you modify a file on one device, the updates automatically sync to any local drives and the Cloud. This means you can always access the most current version of a file from any location, and you don’t have to worry about transporting the file between your devices. You can also share a link to any of these synced files to anyone using an email, Facebook, or Twitter account.
iDrive doesn’t just backup all of your personal devices, it can also backup all of your Facebook and Instagram photos. Even tagged photos that aren’t directly uploaded by you are able to be captured in the backup, so you won’t lose treasured memories if others delete their photos or accounts. Remote Management and Continuous Data Protection (CDP)
iDrive gives you the capability to manage all of your backups remotely through its web console. Just by logging in to your account through the web, you can access your backup data, change application settings, and view activity logs on your devices, all without having to physically be at each device’s location.
With CDP, iDrive automatically senses when files are changed and resaves the backups in real time. CDP only applies to smaller files, which don’t slow your computer as they are being backed up. Bigger files requiring more time are saved when the regular scheduled backups are performed.
True Archiving and Hybrid Backup Methods
The iDrive automatic Archive Cleanup process ensures that even once you’ve deleted items from your devices, they are not deleted from your cloud storage. You’ll always have access to every one of your files, unless you manually go into your iDrive account and delete them. So if you delete something from your device and later wish to have it restored, you only have to go as far as your backup archives. This is not the case with many other cloud storage services, which often delete your data in the Cloud as soon as it is removed from your device.
iDrive offers a hybrid storage solution by giving you the options of both cloud and local backups. In addition to backing up your data to the Cloud, iDrive Wi-Fi (available for an additional cost) is an external drive you can back up all your files to locally. It works across all Mac and PC platforms, as well as iPhone and Android devices, and is equipped with a universal serial bus (USB) 3.0 port to give you fast data transfer. The drive is also protected with cutting edge 256-bit AES encryption and a private key to ensure that your data is always secure.
iDrive Enterprise and Reporting
iDrive can back up all of your server data, in addition to making all of your files secure and available across your network of devices. Employees can have the convenience of accessing files from their desktops, laptops, or phones; share files among teams; and have all devices synced with the same updated version of their files. Restoring data due to computer or server crashes is no longer a headache, and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)-ready security ensures all your critical data is safe and protected.
iDrive also keeps you informed with built-in reporting tools and a management console. You can access these tools within the iDrive application on any of your devices. This means you can view activity reports, backup statuses, and events so that you always know what is going on with your data.
