Where can I check the health status of the hard drive present in IDrive® BMR device?

The 'System Health' tab under Statistics provides comprehensive information on the BMR device health status. You can check the individual health status of the hard drive (storage and OS) from the 'Raid Health Status' and 'OS Drive Health Status' section.

Health status and what they indicate:

  • GOOD: Working fine
  • BAD: Contact support team immediately
  • Predicted to Fail: Contact support team immediately

Note: A unique serial number will be provided to each storage device to identify and replace them if the health status is bad.

What is 'RAID Health Status'?

The 'Statistics' > 'System Health' > 'RAID Health Status' section displays the health status of RAID devices. The storage is placed on a RAID based configuration to provide data redundancy in case of disk failures (applicable for 6TB IDrive BMR Pro and higher).

RAID health status and what they indicate:

  • ONLINE: Devices are working fine
  • OFFLINE: Contact support team immediately
  • DEGRADED: Contact support team immediately

Note: A unique serial number will be provided for each RAID device to identify and replace them if the health status is displayed as 'Warning'.

The 'Warning' status doesn't always imply that there is a critical problem with the RAID storage array. Once you contact the support team, they will analyze the required reports and let you know if there is any issue and provide necessary information on resolving them.

Contact the BMR support team immediately if any of the RAID devices stops working. Our team will analyze the problem and send a replacement drive after processing. Once you receive the drive, our team will assist in replacing the device over chat or phone support. After the drive is successfully replaced and identified by the BMR device, the rebuild operation will start. You can view the progress of the rebuild operation in the 'RAID health status' section.

 

What is scrub?

Scrub is a repair function that identifies the integrity errors of the storage filesystem, and repairs them to ensure the storage filesystem is healthy.

Note: It is recommended not to start any backup/restore operations during scrubbing.

Where can I view the storage utilization details of all my backups?

You can view the storage utilization details of all your backups on the ‘Statistics’ page.

To view storage utilization details,

  1. Sign in to IDrive BMR's device web interface.
  2. Go to the 'Statistics' page.
  3. The 'Storage Insights' tab displays the total storage utilized by physical machines, VMware machines, and the network shares in the respective sections.

    The sections for physical and VMware machines also display the local storage utilized by VMs and the number of restore/virtualization mounts.

  5. The 'Storage' section provides a summary of the local storage utilization.

 

Where can I find my physical machine-related storage information?

To view physical machine storage information,

  1. Sign in to IDrive BMR's device web interface.
  2. Go to 'Statistics' > 'Storage Insights'.
  3. The 'Physical Machine' tab displays storage information of physical machines such as the overall actual usage, the number of file restore mounts, the number of virtualization mounts, and the space used by the VMs.

How do I save backup statistics?

To save backup statistics,

  1. Sign in to IDrive BMR's device web interface.
  2. Navigate to 'Statistics' > 'Storage Insights' > 'Backup Statistics'.
  3. Select the 'Export' button on the right side and choose a format from the dropdown menu to save statistics.

You can choose from CSV, Excel, or PDF format. You can also print or copy the data on the clipboard.

Note: The value displayed in the 'Data Size' column for each client is not the actual amount of data physically stored. Because of the de-duplication mechanism used in the backend, the storage space for storing full and incremental backups is utilized in an efficient manner. The 'Actual Usage' column displays the true utilization, with deduplication effect.

 

Where can I find the VMware-related storage information?

To view VMware storage information,

  1. Sign in to IDrive BMR's device web interface.
  2. Go to 'Statistics' > 'Storage Insights'.
  3. The 'VMware' tab displays storage information of VMware such as the overall actual usage, the number of file restore mounts, the number of virtualization mounts, and the space used by the VMs.

What type of information is available in the 'Backup Statistics' tab?

The 'Backup Statistics' tab provides detailed information of backup storage utilization, the number of restore and virtualization mounts, and the status of the cloud backup for individual machines.

To view this information,

  1. Sign in to the BMR device.
  2. Navigate to the 'Statistics' > 'Storage Insight' > 'Backup Statistics'.
    The 'Backup Statistics' section provides detailed stats on the backups of physical machines, VMware machines, and network shares.

How does IDrive® BMR optimize data storage?

IDrive BMR devices optimizes data storage at multiple levels:

  • It uses advanced block-level de−duplication to ensure up to 30% higher storage efficiency.
  • It also employs ZFS LZ4, a lossless data compression algorithm, to save storage space and provide better I/O performance. The algorithm ensures fast data compression and decompression speed — it is faster than reading/writing uncompressed data to the storage filesystem.
  • The snapshots feature in the filesystem provides storage optimization. The incremental backups are captured using a base full image backup, only modified data is stored in the incremental snapshots. To highlight a few benefits of this process:
  • Retention of full and incremental backups is a continuous process and does not require any manual merging
  • Allows for deletion of any recovery point in the backup chain without affecting the integrity of the chain.
  • Supports fast recovery from any recovery point, without taking time to merge the backups in the chain.
