Can I transfer backups stored on IDrive BMR device to my IDrive cloud account?
Yes, in addition to local backup, you can replicate backups stored on your IDrive BMR device to the IDrive cloud account. You are provided with the necessary interface to schedule cloud replication and monitor the backup status through the BMR web console. |

How can I transfer my backups to the IDrive cloud account?
You can initiate an immediate cloud backup or schedule cloud replication on specific day(s) with IDrive BMR.
To initiate immediate backup,
- Sign in to the BMR device.
- Click 'Cloud Replication' in the menu bar.
- Click the 'Physical Machines' tab for cloud replication of your physical clients. Similarly, click the 'VMware' tab for cloud backup of your VMware servers.
- Go to the 'Cloud Replication Settings' section.
- Select clients for immediate backup from the dropdown and click 'Backup Now'.
To schedule a backup,
- Sign in to the BMR device.
- Click 'Cloud Replication' in the menu bar.
- Click the 'Physical Machines' tab for cloud replication of your physical clients. Similarly, click the 'VMware' tab for cloud backup of your VMware servers.
- Go to the 'Cloud Replication Settings' section.
- Configure the backup schedule, backup end time, and bandwidth throttle.
- Click 'Save'.

What parameters should I set to schedule cloud replication?
You have to set the following parameters in the 'Cloud Replication' tab:
- Select clients for manual backup: Select clients from the dropdown to perform immediate backup. Click 'Backup Now'.
- Select clients to backup: Select the required physical machines. Click 'Select All' to select all computers.
- Select ESXi/vCenter VMs for backup: Select the required ESXi host or vCenter server for backup.
- Scheduled backup time : Set the time at which your scheduled backup should start. Select 'Daily' to perform the backup every day or select the specific days for the backup to run.
- Backup end-time : Disable backup end time or configure a soft or hard cut-off for the end time.
Note : Hard cut-off will terminate backup on the specified end time. For soft-cut off the actual end time is dependent on the ongoing tasks that are in progress.
- Bandwidth throttle : Enter the bandwidth throttle value to set the Internet usage for your backups.

Where can I see the status of my ongoing cloud replication?
You can see the ongoing cloud replication status in the 'Activities' section in the 'Cloud Replication' tab. Information such as computer name and drive /server and VM name, recovery point, volume of the data transferred to the cloud, time taken for backup, Internet speed and the estimated time for backup are displayed.
|
|
What is the speed of cloud replication?
The time required for cloud replication is dependent on various factors such as the volume of the data being backed up, the network bandwidth between the on-site BMR device and IDrive cloud, and the on-going BMR operations.
You can set the Internet usage limit by adjusting the 'bandwidth throttle' value while scheduling. If you want to perform faster bulk backups to cloud, consider using Cloud Seeding.

What happens if I exceed my cloud storage limit?
For certain paid accounts, your backup will continue uninterrupted even if you exceed your cloud storage limit. However, you will incur an overage charge at the rate of $120/TB/month. In case your usage exceeds your cloud storage quota, you may upgrade to one of the higher storage plans and avoid overage charges. Upgrades may involve additional charges. We also provide options to configure cloud retention policy and delete data from the cloud. |
|
Can I view the status of my last backup to the cloud?
Yes, you can view the status of your last backup from the 'Last Backup Log' section in the 'Cloud Replication' page. This table displays information such as computer/server name, recovery point, volume of the data transferred, and stutus/summary.
|
|
What is 'Schedule Summary' in the 'Cloud Replication' tab?
The 'Schedule Summary' section displays the summary of the scheduled backup. Information such as computers selected for backup, day and time of the next scheduled backup will be displayed.
Click 'Delete Schedule' to delete all upcoming scheduled backups.
|
|
Can I view the logs of recent cloud replication?
Click 'View Logs' at the top of the page for a comprehensive log of all cloud replication activities. Information such as the status of cloud replication, name of the client, the volume, recovery point, etc. will be displayed. Also, you can see the integrity status of your backups that is replicated in the cloud server.

The cloud replication logs show an error in connecting to the cloud. How do I resolve this issue?
When the IDrive BMR device tries to connect to the IDrive cloud, firewall settings like the 'SSH Deep Pack Inspection' option in SonicWall could cause authentication failures. Disable this option to resolve the connectivity issues and continue with cloud replication.
|
|
Is my data encrypted during cloud replication?
Yes, IDrive BMR encrypts your data during transfer to the cloud account and when your cloud data is at rest. |
