What is IDrive® e2?

IDrive® e2 is a fast, reliable and affordable object storage solution with S3 API compatibility. It is an ideal solution if you need a second copy in the cloud, off-site disaster recovery, an active and accessible data archive, or long term storage.

How do I use IDrive® e2?

IDrive® e2 stores petabytes of data and you can retrieve them based on your convenience using associated access key ID and secret access key. Enterprise users can access data directly from the IDrive® e2 web console or via third-party tools like Cyberduck, MSP360, Duplicati, ExpanDrive, etc. You can use the web console platform to secure your data, manage users, control account settings, etc.

IDrive® e2 is a web-based console that lets you access your data, monitor storage, users, manage account settings, etc.

The web console has the following sections:

  1. Dashboard

    Get an overview of the number of buckets, total storage usage, and the total number of uploaded objects. You can also enable regions for creating buckets in this section.

  2. Buckets

    Create buckets and store all your files as objects in these buckets. You can view the list of buckets created and manage them.

  3. Users

    Invite users via email and configure access permissions to buckets. You can also manage access permissions of existing users or cancel user accounts.

  4. Activity Logs

    View activity logs of your account and export these logs as PDFs.

  5. Access Keys

    Create access and secret keys and configure their use by assigning access permissions and buckets.

  6. Settings > Security

    Set up two-factor authentication for your account for secure management of your data.

  7. Account > Profile details

    Manage your account phone number and password.

  8. Billing

    View your account billing information, download invoices, and manage payment settings.

Can I access IDrive® e2 with any third-party application or tool?

Access IDrive® e2 with any application or tool that is S3-compatible. Cyberduck software has been tried and tested for this purpose.

Is it possible to archive data using IDrive® e2?

IDrive® e2 is built to store incremental amounts of data with eleven 9s of durability and high availability. Organizations can archive their data in a secured environment and safely retrieve it when required.

How do I efficiently use IDrive® e2?

IDrive® e2 is a scalable and durable cloud-object storage platform that stores petabytes of data on pay-per-use pricing. It is suitable for hosting applications, media workflow, gaming assets, e-commerce resources, and other large volumes of data.

How does IDrive® e2 facilitate data integrity?

IDrive® e2 regularly checks the storage for data integrity. If any object is found corrupted during data writing, reading, storage, transmission, or processing, the corrupted version is erased and an error-free replica of the object is created.

How durable is the IDrive® e2 storage?

IDrive ® e2 storage infrastructure delivers eleven 9s of data durability, irrespective of the data size set and the frequency of uploads and downloads. The high availability of data makes it suitable for storing critical and primary data.

How does the IDrive® e2 platform ensure high performance?

IDrive ® e2 storage has been optimized at various levels, from hardware and software to network. This allows us to provide the most optimal performance for data storage and retrieval for users. Internal tests have shown to match or exceed the competition.

Is the IDrive® e2 storage scalable?

Unlike the limited traditional file storage platforms, IDrive® e2 is designed to provide high scalability. Users can store unlimited amounts of data as the platform accommodates increasing data storage requirements.

Which Amazon S3 APIs are not supported by IDrive® e2?

IDrive® e2 does not support the following Amazon S3 APIs:

  • Bucket/Object ACL (Alternatively, use bucket policies while creating an access key)
  • Bucket specific CORS (By default, CORS is enabled in all the buckets)
  • BucketAnalytics, BucketMetrics, BucketLogging
  • BucketRequestPayment

As a reseller, can I use APIs to manage customer accounts?

Yes, you can integrate entire user management in any of your internal systems by using Reseller APIs. Perform user operations such as creating users, removing users, listing users, viewing storage usage etc. You can also perform storage operations such as list regions, enable or remove regions for users, and add or remove access keys.

How do I get an API access key?

You can view or change API access keys from the web console.

  1. Login to your IDrive® e2 reseller acocunt.
  2. Click your username and go to 'My Account'.
  3. Go to 'API Keys' tab.
  4. Click View and enter your password to view the Access Keys.
  5. Click 'Change', enter your password and modify the Access Keys.

How do I invite users?

To invite users,

  1. Login to your IDrive® e2 reseller account.
  2. Click 'Invite User'.
  3. Enter email address and allocate storage for users.
  4. Click 'Invite User'.

The user will receive a link in email to create IDrive® e2 account. All users will be listed under the 'User Management' tab.

Can I white-label my IDrive® e2 storage?

Yes, we allow qualified partners to white-label their IDrive® e2 storage endpoint URLs. This facility enables ours as well our partners to use a service URL such as s3.partner-name.com (here partner-name refers to the name of the partner) as an alternative to the IDrive® e2 URL. Using this white-label URL capability our partner will be able to provide the IDrive® e2 object storage as a bundled offering with their other services without letting the customers see the IDrive® e2 branded URL. This is specifically useful for MSPs who wish to resell their IDrive® e2 cloud object storage to customers at a price they determine.

To be eligible to use the white-label facility, you just need to create a e2 account enable the regions and following the CNAME documentation:

IDrive® e2 CNAME service is completely free.

Note: The web-based IDrive® e2 Management Console cannot be white-labeled except for partners who are working on an IDrive® e2 provisioning and billing model where the end customer has no direct access to the IDrive® e2 management console and can access their storage only through the partner portal.
