Integrate Moonwalk with IDrive® e2

    Moonwalk is a patented data management solution that automates the movement of file data from costly primary storage to lower-cost tiers, including cloud object storage, while providing centralized visibility and policy-driven control. It helps enterprises reduce costs, simplify governance, and support hybrid cloud strategies by managing distributed data across on-premises and cloud environments. Integrating Moonwalk with IDrive® e2 adds a capable and scalable cloud object storage solution that facilitates systematic integration for secure, efficient, and cost-effective data management.

    Prerequisites

    Before you begin, ensure the following:

    1. An active IDrive® e2 account. Sign up here if you do not have one.
    2. A bucket in IDrive® e2. See how to create a bucket.
    3. Valid Access Key ID and Secret Access Key. Learn how to create an access key.
    4. Moonwalk installed, and the Moonwalk Agent running on your Server.

    The following steps can help you successfully integrate Moonwalk with IDrive® e2 cloud object storage.

    Configure Moonwalk with IDrive® e2

    1. Click MoonWalk S3 Config (Moonwalk S3 Plugin should be installed and running).
    2. Select the S3 Endpoint and click OK.
    3. On the Moonwalk Generic S3 Endpoint Config screen, enter your IDrive® e2 details.
      1. Enable Supports Virtual Host Access.
      2. Enter your IDrive® e2 S3 endpoint as Service FQDN.
      3. Enter 443 as S3 Port.
      4. Enable Use HTTPs.
    4. In Account Configure, enter your IDrive® e2 details as mentioned below.
      1. Enter your IDrive® e2 Access Key as Access Key ID.
      2. Enter your IDrive® e2 Secret Key as Secret Key.
    5. Click Manage Buckets and select your IDrive® e2 Bucket. Click Close.
    6. Enable Encryption, click Generate, enter a passphrase, and click OK.
    7. Click Save.

    Changes are saved to s3generic.cfg.

    Note: Agent restart will be required at this point.

    Add Source

    1. Open Moonwalk and click on Moonwalk AdminCenter.
    2. In the Admin menu, click Sources and then click + (add).
    3. Enter a name for the source.
    4. Select Win as the URL type, and select a Windows directory on a server that runs the Fileserver Agent.
    5. At the win:// prompt, enter the full name of your server (including the domain name), and press Enter.
    6. Click SAVE.

    Create Destination

    1. In the Admin menu, click Destinations and then click + (add).
    2. Enter a name for the destination.
    3. Select s3generic as the URL type.
    4. Paste in the Migration URL.
    5. Click SAVE.

    Create Rule

    1. In the Admin menu, click Rules and click + (add).
    2. Enter a name for the source.
    3. Enter details to configure a specific rule.
    4. Click Save.

    Create Policy for Migration

    1. In the Admin menu, click Policies and click + (add).
    2. Enter a name for the policy.
    3. In the Operation menu, select Migrate.
    4. Select one or more rules.
    5. Click Done.

    Create and Run Task

    1. In the Admin menu, click Tasks and then click + (add).
    2. Enter a name for the task.
    3. In the Dashboard menu, select Quick Run.
    4. To run the required task, click Run.
