Integrate Moonwalk with IDrive® e2
Moonwalk is a patented data management solution that automates the movement of file data from costly primary storage to lower-cost tiers, including cloud object storage, while providing centralized visibility and policy-driven control. It helps enterprises reduce costs, simplify governance, and support hybrid cloud strategies by managing distributed data across on-premises and cloud environments. Integrating Moonwalk with IDrive® e2 adds a capable and scalable cloud object storage solution that facilitates systematic integration for secure, efficient, and cost-effective data management.
Prerequisites
Before you begin, ensure the following:
- An active IDrive® e2 account. Sign up here if you do not have one.
- A bucket in IDrive® e2. See how to create a bucket.
- Valid Access Key ID and Secret Access Key. Learn how to create an access key.
- Moonwalk installed, and the Moonwalk Agent running on your Server.
The following steps can help you successfully integrate Moonwalk with IDrive® e2 cloud object storage.
Configure Moonwalk with IDrive® e2
- Click MoonWalk S3 Config (Moonwalk S3 Plugin should be installed and running).
- Select the S3 Endpoint and click OK.
- On the Moonwalk Generic S3 Endpoint Config screen, enter your IDrive® e2 details.
- Enable Supports Virtual Host Access.
- Enter your IDrive® e2 S3 endpoint as Service FQDN.
- Enter 443 as S3 Port.
- Enable Use HTTPs.
- In Account Configure, enter your IDrive® e2 details as mentioned below.
- Enter your IDrive® e2 Access Key as Access Key ID.
- Enter your IDrive® e2 Secret Key as Secret Key.
- Click Manage Buckets and select your IDrive® e2 Bucket. Click Close.
- Enable Encryption, click Generate, enter a passphrase, and click OK.
- Click Save.
Changes are saved to s3generic.cfg.
Note: Agent restart will be required at this point.
Add Source
- Open Moonwalk and click on Moonwalk AdminCenter.
- In the Admin menu, click Sources and then click + (add).
- Enter a name for the source.
- Select Win as the URL type, and select a Windows directory on a server that runs the Fileserver Agent.
- At the win:// prompt, enter the full name of your server (including the domain name), and press Enter.
- Click SAVE.
Create Destination
- In the Admin menu, click Destinations and then click + (add).
- Enter a name for the destination.
- Select s3generic as the URL type.
- Paste in the Migration URL.
- Click SAVE.
Create Rule
- In the Admin menu, click Rules and click + (add).
- Enter a name for the source.
- Enter details to configure a specific rule.
- Click Save.
Create Policy for Migration
- In the Admin menu, click Policies and click + (add).
- Enter a name for the policy.
- In the Operation menu, select Migrate.
- Select one or more rules.
- Click Done.
Create and Run Task
- In the Admin menu, click Tasks and then click + (add).
- Enter a name for the task.
- In the Dashboard menu, select Quick Run.
- To run the required task, click Run.
