Use Rubrik with IDrive® e2

    Rubrik is a cloud data management software platform designed to help organizations manage, protect, and secure their data across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments. This guide explains how to use Rubrik with IDrive® e2.

    Prerequisites

    Before you begin, ensure the following:

    1. An active IDrive® e2 account. Sign up here if you do not have one.
    2. A bucket in IDrive® e2. See how to create a bucket and assign public access to it.
    3. Valid Access Key ID and Secret Access Key. Learn how to create an access key.
    4. Rubriks cloud data management software 4.2.2 and above.

    Configuration steps to use Rubrik with IDrive® e2

    1. Log in to the Rubrik Interface.
    2. Go to Settings > Archival Locations.
    3. Click to add an archival location.
    4. Enter the following details:
      1. Select Object Store as the Archival type.
      2. Select S3 Compatible (Basho, Cloudian, IBM, etc) as Object Storage Vendor.
      3. Enter the IDrive® e2 Access Key as Access Key.
      4. Enter the IDrive® e2 Secret Key as Secret Key.
      5. Enter the required IDrive® e2 bucket name as Bucket Prefix.
      6. Enter 1 as the Number of Buckets.
      7. Enter Archival Location Name (This is optional and corresponds to the name in the Rubrik GUI).
      8. Add an RSA Key for encryption and click Add.
    5. The IDrive® e2 bucket configured in the above steps will now be listed as an S3Compatible location under Archival Locations.
    6. Next, you need to assign this S3 compatible archival location to an SLA Domain policy.
      1. Click SLA Domain policy.
      2. Click and click Edit.
      3. In the Edit SLA Domain window, navigate to Set Archiving & Replication.
      4. Enable Archiving.
      5. Select your S3 compatible archival location from the dropdown.
      6. Click Next.
    7. Click Update to update the SLA Domain Policy with your IDrive® e2 Archival Location.

    Note: As per the SLA domain policy, the snapshots of the virtual machines belonging to the Bronze Domain will be stored on Rubrik for 30 days and then moved to the IDrive® e2 bucket.
