How does IDrive secure my data?
Your
files and folders are transferred using 128-bit SSL (Secure Socket Layer) technology - the industry
standard encryption for data transmission, between the IDrive application and servers.
Data stored at our world-class data centers is encrypted using the encryption key (known only to you in case you set the private encryption key). IDrive uses
industry standard 256-bit AES encryption on storage - ideal for higher security needs of Financial, Healthcare and Government organizations.*
WARNING: IDrive
does not store your private encryption key on its servers. It
is recommended that you archive it safely to backup and restore your data. However, if you opt for the Default encryption key, you need not remember it.

What is the Family Pack Plan?
The Family Pack Plan is especially useful if you are backing up multiple computers to a single IDrive account. All you need to do is sign up for this plan and setup the IDrive client with the same Encryption Key for up to 5 computers you wish to backup to a single IDrive account. Further, even though this plan allows you to backup up to 500 GB of data to this single account, there are no restrictions to the amount of data backed up from each of those individual 5 computers within this 500 GB, putting you in control of your 'backup data per PC' needs.
Example: You might have a PC with pictures and about 50 GB of data to backup while another PC storing important data files might have 300 GB of data. By this convenient option, you can backup both of these PCs to a single Family Pack account facilitating better data management.
Sign up for this plan or upgrade from a regular IDrive plan to Family Pack - this allows you to backup data from up to 5 computers to a single IDrive account.
Note: You cannot backup both PCs and Macs under a single Family Pack account.

3. The file / folder hierarchy of the backed up data is retained to enable you to easily access the data you are looking for retrieval so simply select what you want to restore and click the restore button.
4. You can also restore data backed up from one computer (visible under that computer name identifier, drill down to the respective file / folder) on your Family Pack account to any another local computer.
5. Sync is possible only for that relevant computer from where data was backed up. This ensures consistency of backed up data. |
I have installed the IDrive application on my computer. Can I install it on another computer configured for backup with the same IDrive account and take backups from that PC as well?
If you are an IDrive Basic or Pro plan user and try to backup data from more than one computer using the same IDrive account with the IDrive application, the below message is displayed.
|
Click the 'Upgrade Account' button and select the 'Family Pack' plan from the page displayed, to backup multiple PCs (up to 5) to the same account.
