Why do I need to backup my Office 365 data?

Your data can be liable to loss, user errors or malicious behavior which Microsoft cannot protect you against. By backing up your Office 365 data with IDrive, you can ensure your data is never lost. Also, access them easily from anywhere and even recover the ones that were deleted long ago, without depending on Microsoft.


How do I backup my Office 365 data?

Before you backup Office 365 data, you need to authenticate your Office 365 account.

To authenticate,

  1. Login to IDrive from any web browser.
  2. Click 'Office 365' displayed on the left navigation bar.
  3. Click 'Authenticate Now!'. You will be redirected to the Office 365 login page.

  5. Provide Office 365 credentials and click 'Sign in'.

Once authenticated, you can backup data stored in your account by clicking 'Backup' displayed next to account username in the 'Office 365 accounts' section. Access your backed up data from the folder 'onedrive', created in your IDrive account.

Note:

  • We do not back up OneNote files from OneDrive.
  • IDrive does not store your Office 365 account information, so every time you wish to backup, you must provide your Office 365 account credentials.

How do I restore my backed up data?

Restore backed up data to your Office 365 account in a few steps.

To restore data,

  1. Login to IDrive from any web browser.
  2. Click 'Office 365' displayed on the left navigation bar.
  3. Click 'Authenticate Now!'. You will be redirected to the Office 365 login page.
  4. Provide Office 365 credentials and click 'Sign in'. You can view the associated accounts in the 'Office 365 accounts' section.
  5. Click 'Restore' displayed next to account username in the 'Office 365 accounts' section.

Access your restored data from 'RestoredfromIDrive' folder under OneDrive in your Office 365 account.

Does IDrive backup the modified files and folders in my Office 365 account?

Yes, IDrive does incremental backups, which means subsequent Office 365 data backups will only include the data that have been added/modified since the last backup.

Will IDrive maintain versions of the files stored in my Office 365 account?

Yes, IDrive maintains previous versions of all the backed up files in your Office 365 account. You can retain up to 10 previous file versions.

To retain the previous versions,

  1. Login to IDrive from any web browser.
  2. Go to 'Files'.

  3. Right-click on the file you want to retain the previous version of and click 'Version'. You can see the previous versions of the file.

  4. Click versions icon against the particular version you wish to download.

Is my Office 365 data secure with IDrive?

Yes. IDrive uses 256-bit AES encryption to keep your data safe and secure. Data is encrypted during the backup process and transferred via a secure SSL connection. On signup, you can choose a private encryption key which is known only to you, to maintain utmost data confidentiality.
