Encryption

IDrive uses industry standard 256-bit AES encryption for data transfer and storage. Data stored at our world-class data centers is encrypted using the encryption key.
You can choose any one of the following options while signing into your account for the first time:

  • Default Encryption
  • Private Key Encryption (known only to you)

Note: Once the encryption key is assigned to your account it cannot be changed.

WARNING: IDrive does not store your private encryption key on its servers. It is recommended that you archive it safely to backup and restore your data. However, if you choose default encryption, you need not remember it.
