There are significant changes to the underlying architecture of IDrive for accounts starting 11-23-2011. The current feature-set is described on the regular IDrive website. This page describes the significant aspects of the earlier architecture and provides information on how to refer to the earlier architecture related description.
Encryption

Enhanced security with 128-bit SSL encryption on transfers, 256-bit AES encryption on storage with an optional user defined key that is not stored anywhere on IDrive servers.

This option exists for Windows Accounts only. Please note that there is clear separation between Windows and Mac accounts. Mac accounts support only 128-bit SSL encryption on transfers.more
 
True Archiving / CleanUp

No data is deleted from your IDrive online account until you manually delete or run CleanUp to match your desktop data to your account. You control your backup data. more
 
Time-Line Restore

Restore option with time-line choice for a set of data. This helps in restoring related data as of a point-in-time. more
 
IDrive Explorer

IDrive Explorer offers a virtual folder view of your account to access and restore backed up data. You can drag-n-drop files for restore from your online drive to the local system. more
 
Folder Restore

Restore a folder via the web using the 'Folder Restore' option. more
