Sometimes, I get a long message about registering IDrive-E after I click on Login. What does this mean to me as a user?

This message is to notify users that IDrive-E has already been installed on another computer and is being used with the same username you have entered on this machine to login. The IDrive-E client agent works with a single username on one computer for logins and we do not recommend multiple logins with the same username on multiple machines.

The only exception is in case of a system crash etc. when a user might want to install IDrive-E afresh on the machine to commence using the client agent again.

How is data encrypted on transmission?

How is data encrypted on storage?

All data stored on the IDrive-E servers is encrypted using a secure key with a user supplied password known only to the end user. IDrive-E uses industry standard AES 256-bit encryption* on storage ideally suited for higher security needs of Financial, Healthcare and Government organizations.

WARNING: Please note that IDrive-E DOES NOT store the user-supplied password anywhere on its servers and it is therefore highly recommended that users memorize the password and also take a hard copy of the user-supplied password to archive it in a safe location.

Without this encryption password, users will not be able to retrieve data.

Can I use my IDrive-E account to perform backups from multiple computers?

No, you can't. This is because the IDrive-E application is designed to perform backup operations from a single computer and not from multiple computers. Please note that you can perform restore operations from multiple computers using IDrive-E. This is to maintain the consistency and to preserve the integrity of backups. Users are requested to install IDrive-E on a machine and use only that machine to perform backups. If users really want to perform backup operations from another computer, they have to install IDrive-E on that computer and re-register the application.
